• Keys break off in the cylinder. A key breaking below the bow almost always indicates a misaligned shear line, forcing the key to torque against chamber walls. In master key systems, this happens when master and change key pin stacks create a false gate that the key rides up against.
• New keys won’t duplicate correctly from the original code. When a locksmith cuts a key to factory bitting and it still won’t operate the cylinder, the system has likely been re-pinned away from original specifications without updated records. This is common in Texas commercial properties that have changed hands multiple times.
