• Key sticks or requires jiggling to turn. The pin chambers inside the cylinder have accumulated dust, corrosion from Houston’s humidity, or worn into oval shapes from thousands of cycles. There is no physical danger in rekeying a Sargent cylinder, unlike garage door springs or electrical work. An owner with patience, a pinning kit, and a follower tool can rekey a standard Kwikset or Schlage at the kitchen table. Sargent is less forgiving.
